Community Groups Donate Masks in SCT

By Senior Partners | Friday, May 29, 2020

Wearing a face mask or covering helps slow the spread of COVID-19. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.” In light of these findings, the CDC recommends wearing a mask or face covering in public settings where it may be difficult to maintain social distancing measures.

Over the course of the past week, approximately 11,000 masks were donated to Spring Creek Towers’ Residents (SCT) by local organizations, political leaders, and Management to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

Spring Creek Senior Partners (SCSP) held a three-day mask distribution event (May 20th to May 22nd) from 12 pm to 3 pm at their office, 160 Schroeders Avenue, providing members with masks donated by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adam’s Office and the Department for the Aging (DFTA).

On May 23rd, Sisters With A Purpose included masks donated by Assemblymember, Charles Barron with their bi-monthly food pantry distribution at the Brooklyn Sports Club.

Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams joined New York State Senator, Roxanne Persaud to personally hand out masks to the community at the Spring Creek Towers’ Shopping Center in front of Abe Stark Primary School 346 on May 24th. Persaud, Adams, members of the Starrett City Tenants Association (SCTA), management representatives, and volunteers donned their gloves and face coverings as they distributed medical masks and hand sanitizer.

The distribution of masks donated by Assemblymember, Charles Barron’s office con-tinued on May 26th and May 27th, at 155 Elmira Loop (E-Garage).
